無冠詞 zero article
日本人が苦手とする「冠詞」。英語の名詞の前につき、その名詞の性質・属性(≒特定か一般的か)を示す単語。日本語には存在しない。
●不定冠詞(indefinite article)
不定冠詞 a/an …後に続く名詞が「1つのまとまった形を持つもの」であることを示す
・数えられるもの
・どれのことなのか特定していないもの
I want to buy a computer.
a computers(×)

a:子音 an:母音
①初めて話題に出すとき
I have a friend in China.
I have an uncle in China.
②職業が何かを述べるとき(特定の技術職を除く)
She is an English teacher.
He is a Japanese teacher.
③1(one)の意味を表すとき
She studied in Sydney for a year. ≒ for one year.
④単位(数量・期間)「~につき」という意味を表すとき
They worked eight hours a day. ≒ eight hours per day.
●定冠詞(definite article)
定冠詞 the …後ろに続く名詞が「他とはっきり区別がつくもの」であることを示す
the(ザ):子音、the(ジ):母音
・数えられる/数えられないもの
・どれのことなのか特定できるもの
I want to buy the computer.

①すでに話題に出ているとき
She really liked the city. ← She studied in Syden.に続けて
②状況から何を指すかわかるとき
How can I get to the station? ← 最寄り駅
③1つしかないものを表すとき
The moon goes around the earth.
④身体の一部を表すとき
The ball hit me on the head.
⑤形容詞の最上級などで限定/句や節で特定されているとき
My.Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan.
The movie I saw yesterday was borning.
【例文】
1 There ia an airport in Hiroshima.
cf.The airport in Hiroshima.
2 It takes almost an hour from the airport to reach the city center.
an hour ≒ one hour
the airport:すでに話題に出ている語
the city center:どの市を指すかわかる場合、定冠詞
3 The moon goes around the earth once a monthe.
the moon, the earth 定冠詞がつく
水星・木星などの衛星には定冠詞がつかない
月も衛星として表現する場合、現象を示す場合は不定冠詞で表す
cf.A full moon appeared in the night sky.
夜空に満月が現れた。
