In the morning, I worked as a substitute for a property manager who took paid leave at a property we manage called Takanobashi Heights. In the afternoon, I delivered office supplies and consumables, and collected and delivered equipment for rental.
In the apartment management industry, properties and headquarters aren’t connected online, so communication relies on paper documents. This forces us to do inefficient work where even a single piece of paper has to be delivered. (Though maybe it’s just our company.)
For lunch, I bought some Hiroshima-style tsukemen at 7-Eleven.

In the morning, I visited the Florence Ujina Higashi Sanbankan property to provide on-site training for the building manager, who was having trouble using the fax machine.
In the afternoon, since I couldn’t use my car, I transported a full set of high-pressure cleaning equipment to Florence Yoshijima Higashi.
In the afternoon, I cleaned the floor around the fountain at Florence Yoshijima Higashi because moss had accumulated there. After finishing, I filled in for a cleaning staff member.
After work, we held a farewell party for Mr. Sakoda, who is being transferred to a property manager position.
We went to Hiroshima Andersen. Since I had worked for the company that operates Hiroshima Andersen for nearly 30 years, the floor manager (Mr. Sasaki) recognized me and gave us a 10% discount.

[惹句どんどん] Apple Think diffent
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward.
And while some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

The property manager at Florence Kami-Oosuka Terminal Square—a property managed by my company—is out sick, so I’m filling in for him.
After work, I attended an event at the social book café “Hachidori-sha.” It featured a lecture by the husband-and-wife team who run “Talmari,” a natural yeast bakery in Chizu, Tottori Prefecture.
The title, “Fermentation and Gender,” seemed puzzling at first glance. I think it’s safe to interpret it as suggesting that we can learn from “fermentation”—which allows us to coexist naturally with the environment—about the challenges of moving to rural areas and the vision for regional revitalization.
They were selling Tarumari bread sets, so I bought some as souvenirs for my family.
For lunch, I bought some zaru soba at 7-Eleven and ate it.
I received an email regarding the results of my application for this year’s Hiroshima Prefecture Regional Interpreter-Guide Training Program.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected. This was my second time applying, but I haven’t been chosen either time. Since the selection criteria aren’t made public, there’s no way to prepare for them. Since the program is organized by Hiroshima Prefecture (using taxpayer money), I wish they would make the information public.
My TOEIC test results from my last attempt came back. I scored 880 points.

How to Avoid Giving Up After Three Days
When you manage to stick with something you set out to do, your self-confidence really soars, doesn’t it?
💡 Main Reasons for Giving Up After Three Days
The barrier to continuing is too high
If you aim for perfection right from the start, your brain perceives it as “too much of a burden” and makes you want to quit. (mezzanine.recurrent.co.jp)
Vague Objectives or Goals
If you start something just because “it seems like a good idea,” the moment you get tired, you tend to think, “Maybe I don’t really need to do this after all.” (lifehacker.jp)
Taking on Too Much Alone
Without making a public commitment or keeping a record, you end up in a situation where “no one will notice if I don’t do it,” which lowers your motivation. (thanksmind.co.jp)
🔁 Tips for Designing a System to Keep Going
Start by “doing just 1 millimeter”
・For studying: “Just one page”
・For exercise: “Just one minute of stretching”
Breaking it down to this level lowers the psychological barrier to getting started. (mezzanine.recurrent.co.jp)
Decide when, where, and how much
Instead of “Do yoga every day,”
say “Do 5 minutes of yoga in the living room at 10 p.m. on weekdays.”
Specifying the time, place, and duration makes it easier to turn it into a habit. (city.kobe.lg.jp)
Make Your Goals “SMART”
As highlighted on sites like Rikunabi NEXT, goals that are easy to achieve are:
・Specific
・Measurable
・Achievable
・Relevant to you
・Time-bound
Formulating them this way makes it easier to stick with them. (lifehacker.jp)
📝 Keep Simple Records to Visualize Your Progress
Simple tracking, like just checking off a box,
marking a circle on a calendar, or tapping a stamp in an app is enough.
When you can see that you’re “sticking with it,” you’re less likely to give up. (next.rikunabi.com)
“Consistency Over Perfection”—Even If You Miss a Day
Studies show that continuing at a pace that suits you—even if it’s just a few times a week rather than every day—makes it less likely you’ll give up. (shizensyokuhin.jp)
🤝 Leverage the Support of Those Around You and Your Environment
Declare to Others That You’re “Going to Do It”
Sharing with family or friends that you’re “going to try this for just 30 days” creates just the right amount of pressure. (thanksmind.co.jp)
Create an Environment That Lowers the Barrier to Entry
・For exercise: Lay out your workout clothes the day before
・For studying: Set aside a specific spot on your desk for that subject
By getting everything ready in advance, it becomes easier to take action. (toyokeizai.net)
⏳ Know how long it takes to stick with it
According to research articles, it takes an average of about 66 days for a new habit to take root. If you keep in mind from the start that “it’s normal to feel awkward for at least two months,” even if you lose motivation after just three days, you’ll find it easier to think, “I’m still in the early stages.” (toyokeizai.net)

3 Reasons Why You Should Let Young Employees Organize Year-End Parties: A Look at the Business Skills They Gain from Planning These Events

Organizing year-end and New Year’s parties at work is often seen as a hassle, but could it actually be a chance to develop business skills? (Photo: RichR / PIXTA)
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a noticeable trend of “young people turning away from drinking parties.” In a previous article titled “Three Reasons Why ‘Drinking Communication’ Is Unpopular Among Young People,” I outlined the reasons as: (1) poor cost-effectiveness and time efficiency, (2) declining engagement, and (3) a desire to separate work and personal life.
Now that it’s December, the season for year-end and New Year’s parties is upon us. With that in mind, I’d like to propose that companies entrust young employees with the role of “organizer” for these events. As a consultant who works on-site to provide support, I have come to keenly realize the importance of “organizational skills.”
Organizing a drinking party is packed with elements essential for young people to grow as business professionals. In this article, I’ll explain three reasons why young employees should be entrusted with this role. I hope not only executives and managers—their superiors—but also young employees themselves will read this.
First of all, what exactly is “organizational skills”?
During an interview for a magazine,
I was once asked,
“Is it really necessary to go out of your way to learn organizational skills?”
I answered “Yes” immediately. That’s because I myself was never taught organizational skills by anyone and struggled greatly as a result.
“Organizational skills” refer to the ability to prepare and coordinate so that work proceeds efficiently. It’s not just about preparation. Arranging and coordinating resource allocation are crucial aspects of planning. It’s a skill that requires more intuition and attention to detail than you might expect. Even if you understand the concept intellectually, it won’t be honed without hands-on experience.
For example, suppose you’re tasked with creating a proposal. You need to identify the necessary steps—such as gathering data, drafting the proposal, coordinating with team members, and getting approval from your supervisor—and proceed by prioritizing them. If you can’t do this, you’ll likely be told that your “planning is poor.”

So, what are the benefits of improving your organizational skills by serving as an organizer? I believe there are three main ones.
(1) You’ll learn the basics of project management
(2) You’ll gain practical experience in resource coordination
(3) You’ll hone your ability to estimate the time required for tasks
Let’s go over each one in detail.
Three Benefits of Organizing a Year-End Party
(1) You’ll Master the Basics of Project Management
First, improving your organizational skills helps you master the basics of project management. This is no exaggeration.
For example, to manage things efficiently, it’s important to first understand the difference between a project and a task. A project is a collection of tasks, and a task is the smallest unit of work. Organizing a year-end party is an ideal opportunity to learn these fundamentals.
By organizing tasks into a hierarchical structure—large projects (hosting the year-end party), medium projects (scheduling, budget decisions, venue selection, etc.), and small projects (recruiting participants, making reservations, seating arrangements, etc.)—you can clearly identify what needs to be done.
While the procedures for handling individual tasks cannot be changed, when working at the project level, you can—and must—flexibly adjust priorities as needed.
“We especially want to show our appreciation to female employees who are busy with childcare on a daily basis,” said the organizer.
