不定代名詞
「不特定の人やもの」を指す場合に使う代名詞
すでに出た数えられる名詞の代わり
a/an + 単数名詞 → one <単数>
複数名詞 → some <複数>
修飾語+複数名詞 → ones
他の人やもの
another <単数>「もう1つのもの」= an + other
others <複数>「他のいくつかのもの」
※特定の人やものの代名詞
(すでに出た名詞と同一)
he / she / it (単数)
they (複数)
the other (残りの1人(1つ))
the others (残りの複数の人(もの))
one~, the other 「1つは~、(残りの)もう1つは…」
one~, the others 「1つは~、残りは(すべて)…」
some~, others 「あるものは~、またあるものは…」「~もあれば、…もある」
some~, the others 「あるものは~、残りは(すべて)…」
[例文]
1 I have lost my dictionary. I have to buy one.
one = a dictionary
2 I have lost my dictionary. I have to find it.
it = the dictionary
